The Matlosana N12 West Catalytic Project is situated in the North West Province within the jurisdiction of the City of Matlosana Local Municipality and is an Integrated Mixed Housing Development.

More than 150 Million bulk infrastructure development projects offers opportunity for Spartial Integration of Klerksdorp with the existing townships of Alabama, Meiringspark, Jouberton, Freemansville and Roosheuwel as well as Uraniaville.

On the 27 February 2018, MXN Development Company launched four projects under their bulk N12 West Catalytic Development Projects, were the Executive Mayor Cllr Maetu Kgaile graced the event with the note that, under these projects job creation for the young and women must be the first priority in our City.

The Main focus of the launch were on the following four projects:

  • Schoonspruit sewer upgrading
  • Bulk Water infrastructure installation
  • Opening 3 show houses
  • Extention 3, 5 & 6 of housing Development

The Schoonspruit sewer outfall upgrading will also benefit the BNG Human Settlement which includes social housing, schools, retail and social amenities. It will serve four primary residential areas consisting of approximately 2000 households with an estimated population of 9000 namely: Meiringspark, Declercqville, Songloed and Elandia.  This will create employment opportunities to the local labourers skilled and unskilled for the duration of the project, which will take about 18 months. The estimated local people that will be employed is plus, minus 56. The project value is R57.3 million rand.

–              6569 meter of new main sewer pipeline with 124 manholes

–              2728 sewer connector lines with 54 manholes to connect the existing network to the new main outfall line;

–              130 new sewer house connections to replace inappropriate and defective infrastructure;

–              Construction of new connection chamber to the existing 1300mm outfall line at Gilau Street

–              Two major road crossings namely the N12 and Leemhuis Street.

BULK WATER PIPILINE FROM RESERVOIR (PHASE 1)

PROJECT: Construction of a new bulk water supply line from the Alabama Reservoirs along the southern side of N12 up to the borders of the initial extensions of Matlosana Estates.

One of the priority is to provide sufficient bulk water capacity for the new Matlosana Estates Development, to augment water supply and improve operational water pressures that ring-feeds the existing town extensions of Meiringspark and neighbouring suburbs. The Project will employ plus minus 40 skilled and unskilled labourers for the period of 14 months. The value of the project is estimated around R39, 8 Million.

COMPONENTS: 3913 of new main water pipeline ranging from 400mm to 630mm in diameter

–              Related pipe fittings and valves

–              8 No connection and air valve chambers of reinforced concrete

–              A railway crossing; and

–              Crossing of N12 road by means of pipe jacking method

The new Matlosana Estates Development is estimated to benefit plus minus 9591 households on a mixture of land uses.

Internal Services to Extentions 3, 5 & 6 Housing Development

This project provides each stand within the development with appropriate municipal services and safe access. There is also the construction of internal and link Civil Engineering services that will be constructed and this includes water, sewer, storm-water and roads.  The housing development project aims to create jobs and employ 62 skilled and unskilled labourers equating to 32 364 – person days of employment over the project period. The anticipating completion of the project is a period of 16 months and the estimated budget at R62 Million.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr Nhlanhla Nkala said, “I am pleased with the current infrastructure developments that are going to take place in the city of Matlosana and that is going to benefit community of this city. These projects will also change the lives of many and will improve in attracting investors, to come and invest in the City Of Matlosana”.
